I'm Ruby Rae. I live and work in Dundee. My main interest is assemblage & altered art (I do dabble in jewellery too). For the most part I construct sculptural pieces from old toys,boxes,keys and really just anything that I can imagine in a different form from its original purpose.
I'm a self confessed Tattoo junkie. I love wigs and vintage clothing.Adore charity stores for old ornaments & toys for my work.
I have many favourite artists including- the wonderful Liz McGrath, Ray Ceaser,Michael De Meng,Joseph Cornell, Kukula and countless others. I am self taught, tho' did go to art night classes for a number of years.
I hope my work conjures up dreams and ideas to the viewer. For the most part my work doesn't have 'deep meaning', but I do play with themes which sometimes translate into the viewer's thoughts being provoked.
I'm very approachable so always happy to answer questions.
