Meet the maker Sally Lavender

I am a terrible hoarder. I hate to throw away something that may later prove to be useful. I learnt to embroider when I was 9. I didn't want to learn to embroider because the other group at school were knitting teacosies. You know the ones? With sort of bumpy sides. Later on I proved to be absolutely useless at knitting and when I had children had to start knitting jumpers for them two years before they would be needed. somehow I learnt to crochet. I learnt dressmaking at school, a skill that has served me very well. Through my adult life I have dabbled in a lot of different crafts. I have my own kiln and a stash of clay. I have a small room of new and reclaimed fabric. There is a hoard of timber that may become signs or boxes. There is a small but intriguing collection of stained glass. When I belonged to the WI Markets an elderly member said to me 'don't buy stuff in specially, use what you have' and she wasn't a hoarder like me.
