Ceri Hughes Profile
Having the nature of a magpie and an innate ability for hoarding vast quantities of what I consider 'lovely, useful and interesting things', my work, as a result of these dual characteristics, is utterly contemporary but with a distinct sympathy for the vintage and antique.
I am in a constant search for materials which have a twinkling, sparkling and shining quality, as well as on look out for tiny re-usuable intriguing scraps and pieces from sources that range from newspapers to journals to books from years gone by. The use of printed letters, words and alphabets also feeds my fascination for the written word and the nature of language.
LittleBirdHouse celebrates all that is pleasing to the eye and sweetly sentimental, a mixture that collides to arrive at an outcome that is delicate and intricate. By combining many mixed media materials with the application of labour intensive techniques, the results are quietly charming and delightful.
Add to this mix, a generous touch of sparkle and you have LittleBirdHouse - Maker of Individual Treasures, Heartworks and Dainty Delights.
