Meet the maker Laura Smyth

I am a Manchester based artist specialising in illustration and more recently in crochet, textiles and needlecraft. Over the past several years, my folk and fairy tale inspired work has developed from acrylic based paintings, to traditional styled pen and ink drawings which take influence from decorative book plates and woodcuts. I have recently enjoyed working with traditional crafts, which I feel add an element of authenticity and homeliness to my folk art aesthetics.
