About Me
I am a beadweaver and textile artist living and working in beautiful Nottinghamshire. I love colour and texture, and enjoy many arts and crafts, but it's working with seed beads that keeps drawing me back.
I've been beading since my teens, beginning with a simple daisy chain bracelet. Since then I've played with any technique I can find, making jewellery, sculpture and pictures. I joined the British Beadworkers Guild in 2002, and was thrilled to win their Challenge the first time I entered. I've gone on to win twice more since then. You can see the entries from each year on the Beadworkers Guild website - well worth a look for some of the beautiful work on display!
My mother is Hungarian and I visit that country as often as I can. Since my childhood I've been fascinated with the beautiful embroidery and folk art found in the varied regions of Hungary, and I've recently tried to incorporate this into my designs. In particular, I've recently been working with the netted necklace designs seen in Hungary and other Middle and Eastern European countries. For examples of this type of work you might like to visit the website of Marcsi Decsi-Kiss, who I was very pleased to meet during a recent visit to Budapest.
