Hello! I'm Mairi and I'm the person behind maram jewellery. I live in a small town called South Queensferry, just outside Edinburgh which is famous for also being the home of the Forth Bridge, now a World Heritage Site. The coast around my home is a big inspiration, from the colours, to the wonderful seaglass I often find on my little walks on the beach. I'm also hugely inspired by my heritage: my family are from the little islands in the north west of Scotland, the beautiful Outer Hebrides. My annual visits never fail to inspire me: the dramatic open skies, the deserted golden beaches, the colours of the wild flowers and the abandoned croft houses with their rustic paintwork ruined by the sea air.
My studio is a small tiny space where I work with tools passed down to me by a jeweller when I first began. I love that I am the third (or fourth!) owner creating beautiful jewels with the same tools! I'm in love with gemstones and love combining colour more than anything else. I work extensively with birthstones and I just love it when I get a new combination to try.
