Working from my little pottery overlooking our woodland garden I handcraft individual pieces of porcelain jewellery and homeware. Each piece is carefully created using techniques honed over twenty years. Starting with a lump of wet porcelain clay each piece is shaped, imprinted, fettled and smoothed until they are finally ready to be bisque fired to 950c. Once cooled and sanded, I hand decorate and glaze each piece ready for a second stoneware firing to 1235c which ensures the porcelain's durability and strength.
My handmade jewellery is finished with delicate recycled sterling silver or rolled gold chains and packaged in 100% recyclable luxury gift boxes made from a high recycled content.
My work is inspired by the small but beautiful and rugged island I call home, the Isle of Man. Surrounded by the Irish Sea, at the heart of the British Isles it nestles. A place of wild seas, sheltered woodlands, sunlit meadows and windswept moors all with their own special flora and fauna. Inspiration also comes from the island's rich heritage rooted in ancient celtic and viking traditions.
My work has featured in several exhibitions in local galleries and is stocked in Manx National Heritage gift shops.
A constant companion in my pottery is our friendly and curious black and white cat, Rosie, who loves to inspect my work at each stage of the process.
