About byGoldenberry

byGoldenberry

Hi! This is me.

Hello, My name is Tina and I am the maker behind byGoldenberry.

My shop began with me making purses and gadget cases using second hand acrylic yarn. I had just changed to a vegan diet and was becoming aware of zero waste and the importance of reusing what we already have. A good start, however, I now feel this is no longer enough to make any kind of difference.

Zero waste has become a big part of my life and for me it isn't just about reducing plastic, reusing and recycling. It's also very much about where things come from, the manufacturing and the processing of the raw materials being used and how their cultivation impacts our environment.

I recently went in search of a zero waste version of something that nearly every household uses and uses a lot of. I wanted a low impact washing up sponge and I couldn't find an alternative to the standard that I was truly happy with. Yes, there are others out there but they didn't tick all my boxes. So I made my own reusable, environmentally friendly, biodegradable, sustainable 100% hemp sponge.

Why hemp? There are so many reasons why but just to name a few; It is naturally antibacterial. It is washable. It will biodegrade. It needs no pesticides to grow. The hemp yarn I am using is grown and produced in Europe using only water in the production process. Finally and most importantly, because it's cultivation regenerates the soil.

Let’s work together to look after our planet!
