Tweed and Tartan reflect the landscape and people of Scotland and it is Galloway where I live that inspires me.
My Granma taught me to sew when I was about 8 years old and I've been sewing ever since, but it was only when my children were born that I discovered and fell in love with patchwork. My children are all grown up now, but what started as a hobby soon turned into a business. Since setting up Puffinpatchworks in Edinburgh in 2010 the business has gone from strength to strength. From new design ideas to teaching, I will embrace any change that engages people with fabric and patchwork.
I first started using Tweed and Tartan in my quilts and cushions a few years ago after a customer was looking for a good home for a stash of tweed she had found in her Granny's attic. In exchange for this tweed treasure, I made a 7' square quilt that keeps them warm in winter and adorns the wall in summer.
My Folksy shop concentrates on my love of Puffins and the more I sew Puffins, the more I see their character. From pincushions to large cushions, from Puffling quilts to large throws, I will try anything to satisfy all those Puffin lovers out there!
I also do commissions and I'm open to any design idea that you may have.
