Hi, I'm Helen. I had a long science-based career, before re-discovering my creativity. I’m now a full-time textile artist and designer-maker with an overwhelming passion for fabrics and all things haberdashery. Much of my work includes the use of fabric appliqué. I love the design process of combining textures, colours and patterns to create something beautiful and yet functional. More recently, I’ve been experimenting with textile art, where I’ve combined fabric appliqué with free-motion embroidery (where I use my sewing machine to “draw” on the fabric) and hand embroidery. I'm inspired by things that I have a personal fondness for, and my designs feature a wide range of subjects, including landscapes, seascapes, animals, birds, flowers, mushrooms, fairy houses, gnomes, beach huts, cottages etc. - quite an eclectic mix! I love Russian dolls and I designed my logo around one of my Russian doll appliqué designs.
I work at home. I have a small studio, but it’s overflowing with fabric and haberdashery supplies, so I generally tend to work at my large dining table, which is usually buried under mountains of fabric, work in progress and my two much-loved sewing machines. I have two dogs, Millie and Eric, who keep me company whilst I’m working.
As well as selling through my Folksy shop, I can often be found at artisan markets and craft fairs in and around the Midlands (I am based in South Derbyshire). I accept orders for commissioned pieces, as long as I feel that the request fits in with my style.
Designing and making is my passion and I hope that the items that I am inspired to create bring as much joy to others as they do to me.

These coiled bowls are perfect for keeping trinkets and storing daily used jewellery. The coin purses are super cute. Extremely well made items and speedy delivery. I have bought from Pocketful before and I’m sure I will again.
