I am a qualified Silversmith with a degree in Jewellery/metalwork and I use my skills to create fun, modern custom jewellery just for you.
I am an independent maker and I work from my kitchen in North Wales, I do have a workshop (read shed) in my garden but its cold and big outdoor spiders live in it, plus the kitchen is where the kettle is.
I started my business as a project in uni, I turned one of my nieces drawings into a silver brooch and people loved it, so I kept turning friends kids drawings into jewellery for them then I thought "maybe other people would like drawings as jewellery?" and they did.
I've been running Bird and Monkey for 6 years now and people still love having their kids doodles made into either wearable or freestanding works of art.
I have always loved colour and have been thinking of designs that I could make that would have colour incorporated, this is how I came up with my newest range of animal and plant themed jewellery.
These pieces are a bit of a labour of love as they take many hours to complete (around 20+hours), each piece is formed then hand mixed coloured resin is painstakingly applied ( and then its fingers crossed that my soldering is good and nothing leaks!) Then lots (and lots) of polishing is done, usually in front of the tele when the kids are in bed.
These new pieces have caught the eye of Dragons Den investor Theo Paphitis and won me a Small Business Sunday award.
Also my work has won the Cooksons Gold Design of the week prize twice.

Really liked these earrings - part of the fun is not knowing quite what will turn up with the resin earrings as they're all individual, and these were lovely white and pink shades. Great!!
