Full description
A scene of greyness, fields, sky and tree, but with lots of interest from the bright red hawthorn berries in the hedge and the delicate snowdrops in the foreground.
This scene has been hand appliqueed, from scraps of grey and pale green fabric. Distant trees, fence, and hedge are stitched in a mixture of threads. The snowdrop leaves in the foreground, are embroidered in silk ribbon, the snowdrop flowers in embroidery thread.
The back of the brooch is neatened with commercial felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
Dimensions:
Width - 7 cm approx.
The brooch is stiffened with plastic cut from a recycled bottle. The design is framed with two rows of couching, stitched over two knitting ribbons twisted together, with a touch of metallic 'pewter'.
