This is a gorgeous bone china teapot! It stands approximately 7" high and is a standard 6-cup size.
This would be a perfect wedding, anniversary or birthday gift for the tea lover in your life!
The illustration features a fox eating sandwiches off a platter strapped to a squirrel's back, while a hare pulls lumps of cheese off the spikes of a hedgehog!
Let me tell you a little more about how I make it.
First of all I create my drawings using pen, ink and watercolours. I then scan the image into my computer, resize it so it will fit perfectly onto the china, then send it to a man named Jason in Stoke-on-Trent (the pottery capital of England). Jason prints my image using sublimation inks then coats it with a magical formula that makes my image into a transfer (kind of like a temporary tattoo you used to put on a a child to trick your parents). Meanwhile I call up a man called Paul who also lives in Stoke-on-Trent to order some of his china. Paul's family business makes all the china on the premises.
Once the china and transfers have arrived at my little house, the fun can begin, I cut out the transfers and soak them in a bowl of water until they slip off the backing paper, I then very carefully apply the transfer to the surface of the piece, using a squigee to gently work out all the tiny air bubbles and creases until it is perfect. When I am happy that each transfer has been applied perfectly, I place my 'Mellor Ware' mark beneath each piece.
The china is then fired at 850 degrees for 12 hours. This re-glazes over the illustration and seals it on forever. All Mellor Ware is dishwasher and microwave safe. The colours will never fade or scratch off.
