Item details

A limited edition, hand finished, signed high quality print of an original mixed media painting of a Foxglove and Carder Bumblebee. The original was painted with watercolour. I then used polychromos artists colouring pencil with drawing inks and finished with some ink and paint splashes. Every print is hand finished with gold ink, making no two the same. Each print is professionally mounted and cellophane wrapped.

Including the mount the print is 305mm x 410mm ( 16 x 12 inches)

Including the mount the print measures 255mm x 202mm (10 x 8 inches)

The print will be wrapped in tissue and packed in a sturdy box with ' signed for' delivery.
Each print also comes with a ' Certificate of Authenticity'

Inspiration

For the original, I used for reference, photos I had taken in our local wood last Summer after a little shower of rain. I really tried to create a bit of excitement and anticipation in the painting.
The title has two different meanings. For the bee the 'taste of Summer' is of course the flower's sweet nectar. For me it was being in the quiet of the woods in the sunshine, with just the hum of the bees and the sound of birdsong, surrounded by all those beautiful foxgloves. I also like the feeling of a moment captured in time. You know that as soon as that bee alights on that foxglove all those raindrops are going to sprinkle away.
