“I was happily asked to contribute sculpting sections for the Dorling Kindersley ‘Artist’s Manual’, and to include photographs of sculptures that represented different types of modelling. So I began my Pig and Chicken sculpture, which I’d had on my mind for a little while, for the realistic sculpting photographs. It is based on one of our own rescue pigs here, and a rescue battery hen called Daisy who found it fun to flap to the top of Pog’s back and balance there, sometimes even as he moved about.
I borrowed Holly’s pretty pointed ears, to work better with the composition. And I enjoyed the gentle humour of sculpting the two of them together.”
