Mum and baby hedgehogs are the main feature of this sterling silver hedgehog brooch, shawl brooch with Aventurine Gemstones.
Mum and baby hedgehogs were cut from sterling silver sheet before being given their spiny details by hand engraving, and soldering onto the handmade brooch, the brooch itself has a hammer detail texture and the open ends finished with 2 x 6mm Aventurine Green Gemstones that are set in sterling silver bezels
The style of the brooch is a pennanular, it is not a full circle and although the pin is connected to the piece it is free to move around the brooch, these were used in medievil times and throughout the decards worm by Celts, romans, vikings and others throughout the era's, this itself tells of their popularity.
The size of the brooch is 5 cm x 4.5 cm
This carries the full british hallmark and my unique makers mark
