Full description
Inspired by a favourite photograph of the Mawddach Estuary, taken from the footpath known as the 'Panorama Walk', this embroidery looks south across the river, with mounds of heather in the foreground.
This brooch has been hand-appliqueed and embroidered. 'Small print' fabrics are used for the hills. Hand-made felt, produced by wet felting a mixture of merino, silk and mohair fibres, is used for the sky, river and estuary sands. The heather in the foreground is stitched in embroidery threads. Two rows of couching over a pure wool yarn in pale slate gray, frame the design.
The brooch is reinforced with recycled plastic from a bottle. Felt is used to neaten the back. A brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
