I've just returned from a lovely holiday in Northern, Green, Spain and we spent our last few days on the coast at Ribadesella with a backdrop of the stunning Picos de Europa mountains. One day we walked along the beach at Vega which had terracotta coloured sand, an aquamarine sea and rock pools in emerald green moss. This is my interpretation, with a little poetic licence, of that scene.
What I've not been able to show you are the lovely treasures I collected that day from the rock pools. Dinosaur eggs, stones with baby dinosaur footprints, a piece of amethyst.

This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique. One of my very own designs and I think it is quite stunning and very special.
It is a striking 'picture' of the Picos Mountains in the North of Spain, the Costa Verde. Shown from the brillantly coloured aquamarine sea, across the breaking surf, the golden sands, past the little rockpools which are full of treasures,, to the bright green hills and then the stunning peaks of the mountains. All under a gorgeous bright blue sky as of course the sun is shining.
I've captured the scene for you as best I can in glass.
I've framed the picture in clear glass with a delicate texture for good effect and then with a strengthening border of twisted wire.
The sea is all made from iridescent glass to give it a sparkle. The two little rock pools are cut from dichroic glass which gives them a brilliance I can't get from normal stained glass.
This looks lovely when it hangs in the light of a window but can equally be used as a picture against a plain wall..
It is 14.5cm inches square and hangs from a strong silvery chain which is securely attached at either side of the top.
My pieces are all unique. I use different shades and textures of glass to ensure that everything I make, even when to the same pattern, is different.
All photos are of this suncatcher as it is the first I've made of this new design.
