PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. THE LOOM IS A POPULAR ITEM BUT IN A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF CASES CUSTOMERS HAVE BOUGHT THEM WITHOUT FIRST FOLLOWING MY ADVICE AND HAVE CONSEQUENTLY RETURNED THE GOODS FOR REFUNDS BECAUSE THEY REALISED ALL TOO LATE THAT WEAVING WASN’T FOR THEM. POSTAGE AND PACKING COSTS ARE NOT REFUNDED IN THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES SO YOU WILL LOSE OUT AND I WILL BE PUT TO NO LITTLE INCONVENIENCE.

I decided to make a dual purpose loom as opposed to the usual thing which has a row of pegs 25mm apart. I have added a further row of holes 20mm apart which will allow the user to make material with a finer weave. The 25mm row will produce material approx. 275mm wide and the 20mm row will produce material 300mm wide.

If you Google “peg loom” you will find several sites and YouTube videos describing how it can be used. I would suggest that prospective buyers look at these videos first to be sure it’s for them before placing an order. I’m assured that anyone of average dexterity will find it easy.

Don’t use clamps. I provide a free piece of non-slip rubber mat with each item which will hold the base firmly and prevent marking.

The width of the material produced is obviously limited to the distance between the outside pegs. Narrower widths can be produced (for making bag handles, for example) by removing an equal number of pegs from each end.

To start weaving you need strong for the warp threads and whatever material you care to weave.

A fellow crafter, who makes handbags, asked me to make a better loom than the old unstable single capacity thing she was using. Instead of the clamps she was using I suggested non-slip rubber matting and added a threader to make the job easier. I am currently designing her a much larger version for making rugs but postal charges being what they are I don't envisage making anything wider than 610mm for postal customers. Call me for special prices on these larger items.
