I made this print for a friend who is a big fan of the band and loves this song. I had fun listening to the track many times to check the lyrics and then researching the meaning behind them.

The lyrics to 'Reasons To Be Cheerful' by Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Original, large, hand-pulled typographical screen print.

The lyrics to the classic 1979 track set in Futura (the typeface used in the Blockhead's logo!). The song lists reasons to be cheerful including 'being rather silly', 'porridge oats', 'slap and tickle' and 'being in my nuddy'. The type set digitally & then screen printed by hand in my teeny-tiny home studio while the baby was asleep. See more photos of the process here http://flic.kr/s/aHsjuWxgut
