This little bird brooch was inspired by antique lace embroidery made by my great grandmother, the theme of memory and the passing down of skills through generations.
I imprinted the lace into the surface of the porcelain whilst it was still soft. It is glazed with gorgeous teal glaze which emphasizes the intricate pattern in the surface and contrasts with the matt white porcelain. The lacy design gives an elegant vintage feel, whilst the bird shape brings a contemporary element.
There is a metal silver colour pin brooch clasp on the back.
It measures approx 2.75 x .75 inches (7 x 2.5 cm) and is about one third of an inch from front to back of clasp.
