Item details

This is a box framed hand embroidery sewn by me. It is of a small fox hiding in a fern filled woods.
There is a carpet of needles at the base of the pine tree with little purple and orange Russula mushrooms appearing. In the branches there are Goldfinches. A tiny bird hides in the blackberries
The background is black with a pale silk sky.
I use a variety of threads, the tree detail is in pure silk, but I love to use old Sylkos too.

The work was stretched and framed by Toby West in Truro - who does a lovely job!
The frame is a white, deep box with an inset around the embroidery.
Frame size is 28 x 33 x 4.8cm approx.
Embroidery size is 9.5 x 13.5cm approx.

I've really enjoyed making these larger embroideries. I've always loved work that makes you look and look again and find more to interest your eye each time. My favourite topics are flora and fauna and have lately been looking at lush medieval tapestries and stitchwork, and their interesting animal interpretations.
