Full description
This handmade A4 sketchbook has been made using a base layer of natural linen. A range of fabrics that included lace, vintage lace, various scraps of silk, printed cotton, brocade, printed organza and more lace have been arranged onto the natural linen base and stitched using zig zag stitch. A vintage image has been appliquéd to the front cover. The final stage was hand stitching some embroidery, beads, nine shell buttons, three lace flowers and a lace butterfly. Ivory satin ribbon has been attached to the front and back so it can be tied as a closure.
On the back cover I have hand stitched two large lace butterfly motifs.
I hand stitched the nine signatures together using natural hemp twine. The spine has been left exposed because I think it is a nice feature to this handmade sketchbook.
This handmade sketchbook could also be used as a memory book, or a journal.
Measurements: Sketchbook is A4 size, 23 cm (9 ins) wide x 31.5 cm (12.5 ins) long. All sizes are approximate.
