I’ve made this glass into a pleasing organic shape that reminds me of a tropical seedpod, and within it I’ve put something out of this world!
Inside I’ve formed a swirling storm nebula of blue, green and yellow clouds which spiral down into the centre of the pendant. The solid clear top half is solid clear glass which acts as a lens making it appear the vortex swirls down deeper than the pendant really is. Borosilicate glass colours do appear to change and shift with the type of light adding a little extra mystery and magic, it’s been impossiable to really capture all that’s inside this drop in a photograph.
On the back I’ve put a design of dark blue/black and a metalic green/bluey cream glass, which forms a spiral pattern. Ontop I’ve formed a solid clear loop to hang it from. Ideal either to add to your own design or if you'd like me to add a cord please convo me with lengths as I can add some high quality black Greek leather cord with 925 silver findings for around £3.50 extra if you'd like it 'ready to wear.'
From top of the loop to the bottom this is 51mm (2inches), it is just under 20mm at the widest point and at the thickest belly part it is just under 18mm. The back is only slightly flattened to help it hang neatly as I didn’t want to loose the lovely shape. The back pattern is so unusal with the metalic hints you may even want to reverse it on occasions and use the back as the front to as a second pendant!
The glass is borosilicate, and fully annealed in a microprocessor controlled kiln.
Every pendant I make is always slightly different, so are always a true one of a kind piece of artisan flamework made entirely by hand by lampwork in my studio in the heart of the English countryside
