This is the pewter box which appears in the May edition of Making Gifts Magazine.The lid is hand-made in shiny lead-free pewter,and features a lovely blue glass cabochon stone which changes colour with the angle of the light.Now available with green or vitrail*stone.The boxes with the green or blue stone have a golden pine stain,and the vitrail stone comes with a dark stained wood.Height 28mm, diameter 38mm. Perfect for tiny treasures. *the vitrail stone is pink when viewed from above but has green blue and gold when viewed from other angles.
Each pewter piece has been individually made by hand (not cast) to my own design. A pattern is raised on a sheet of pewter, then the raised area is filled. The item is then mounted on a rigid base,chemically patinated, then polished.Modern pewter is lead-free and after patination has a shiny,almost reflective,finish.It does not blacken like silver and can be brightened, if necessary,with a smear of metal polish and a buffing with a soft cloth.
