Item details

This purse has been made from a 100% lambswool sweater that I felted in the washing machine. It is a dark green in colour but looks more grey than green. On the front of the purse I have made a grid by stitching squares with red thread and then in each square I have hand stitched a button. There are twenty buttons, a mixture of vintage and new and all different colours.

The purse has a dark green zip closure, and a zip pull that I have made from red grosgrain ribbon. It has been interfaced to give it structure, and the lining is a heavy weight calico fabric.

This fabric purse would make an ideal coin purse. It is big enough to hold silver and copper and a card or two. The purse would make a great Birthday or Christmas gift, especially if you put something else inside the purse!

The purse is 16.5cm (6.5ins) wide and 12cm (4.75ins) deep.

I always wanted to have a try at machine felting and I have to say it is quite exciting when the sweater comes out of the machine felted and it is lovely to work with.
