I love Malachite. It is such a beautiful gemstone with bands and waves of light through to dark greens. Malachite is quite a weighty gemstone, due to its high copper content.
Good quality malachite is becoming increasingly hard to source and more and more expensive to buy.
Lucky for me - and you, I have some stunning vintage malachite beads to hand! These were taken from a Victorian necklace, purchased many moons ago at an antiques fair. All of the beads in the necklace were cut and shaped by hand, so no two are identical in shape or size.
I have used these vintage beads in the body of the necklace, hand knotting between each bead. Sandwiching the Malachite beads are little sterling silver round beads.
The stunning focal point to the necklace is a beautiful highly polished drop or marquise cut of Malachite, with unusual swirls and patterns. The gorgeous bands and swirling patterns are in all shades of green. The pendant is fixed to the necklace by a simple sterling silver bail, stamped 925 for sterling silver.
The necklace itself is completed with a round linked sterling silver chain. The necklace closes with a bolt ring clasp - stamped 925 for sterling silver.
The necklace can be closed anywhere along the links
The necklace measures 42cm or 16.5 inches in length approx.
