June is absolutely my favorite time of year. Firstly, rather self-indulgently, it's my birthday. I always buy new books on my birthday which can be difficult to put down!
The second reason is it's summer.I'm a bit of a flower fan, I'm bowled over at this time of year by the spectacular array of colours that emerge.
So, this purse is a combination of being inspired by a fantastic Japanese craft book and by the beautiful flowers I see on the Isle of Wight.
The embroidery is stitched with many many french knots, and is on a very fine white cotton voile. This is then backed and lined with a beautiful plain blue cotton lining fabric. The result is that your miniature , all year round garden of beautiful colourful flowers is placed into a hazy blue skied summers day. I have tried my best to show this in my photos but really it's best when you see it.
It is secured with a pale blue zip. The purse measures 6 inches wide by just over 4.5 inches in height. It is securely constructed however I would say to be gentle with the embroidery. It is a truly lovely piece, ideal as a special gift. I would suggest that it is used as a dressing table purse to store jewellery in , the embroidery is delicate and would probably deteriorate in a handbag.
