Full description
I have created this pair of earrings using a recent gemstone find of mine - Brecciated Mookaite. Each cut gemstone is unique, with its own, natural geometric patterns in all colours of cream and yellow.
Mookaite Jasper is found in Australia and comes in all colours, especially yellows, purples and reds - often all in the one specimen. This brecciated mookaite has under gone a natural splintering and reforming geological process,where silica has replaced any gaps in the gemstone to create this unusual gem.
The stones have been mounted onto sterling silver vermeil wire, which I have wrap - looped by hand to create strong and secure links. The stones have then been suspended from sterling silver vermeil oval hoops - stamped 925 for sterling silver. These neat hoops have a lever back fastening, making them ultra secure and very comfortable to wear. These have also been hand finished and polished.
The vermeil finish is a solid bonding of 22K yellow gold to the sterling silver, which with normal wear, should last a lifetime. The yellow gold finish really works very well with these stones and brings out their warmth and depth of colour.
The earrings measures 3.5cm in length approx.
