For this project I chose to use a natural linen fabric as the base layer and interfaced it. I selected and cut out a range of different fabrics that included vintage and new lace, various scraps of silk, brocade, printed organza and more linen. I chose a vintage image that I had printed on evolon, and then all the fabric pieces were arranged onto the natural linen base.
Each element was then machined stitched using zig zag stitch. After all the stitching had been completed, I then hand stitched five vintage pearl buttons and three guipure lace flowers. Once this had been completed, I bound the fabric cover to the hardback book.
This A5 journal or notebook would make an excellent gift for Christmas or a Birthday. It is a book that someone could treasure for many years to come. It has been handcrafted to a high standard.
