Full description
I have used a vintage image for the front cover of this journal. On the back cover I have hand stitched a vintage butterfly motif.
I have used natural linen fabric as the base layer for this journal. I then selected and cut out a range of fabrics that included vintage lace, various scraps of silk, brocade, printed organza and more linen. All the fabric pieces were arranged onto the natural linen base and stitched using zig zag stitch. After all the stitching had been completed, I then hand stitched seven mother of pearl buttons, three guipure lace flower, some cream pearl beads, and embroidered three lazy daisies. I also stitched some cream crochet lace trim.
I hand stitched the seven signatures together using natural hemp twine. The spine has been left exposed because I think it is a nice feature to this handmade journal. There are irregularities with this handmade journal i.e. the cutting and folding of the paper is not perfectly flush.
This handmade journal would make a lovely Birthday or Christmas gift.
Measurements: Journal is A5 size, 15.5cm (6ins) wide x 21.5cm (8.5ins) long. All sizes are approximate.
