A colourful and inexpensive way to add a little colour to an outfit! A perfect, up-cycled, individual and eye-catching gift with a story and a little bit of soul…

I’ve created these decorative brooches to my own design from up-cycled, double backed denim using layers of bold, eye-catching materials with a mixture of buttons from c1940s or my own magpie collection. Each petal is cut by hand, layered, and then secured with a jewel of a button. The brooch fixing is sewn onto a double denim mount, and then glued in place.

The Hannah's Button shown in the image is available - if you want it it's yours (for a modest fee!). Other styles available - please see my other listings.

Dimensions: 6.5cm x 6.5cm approx

Care instructions: Mine have survived the washing machine - if yours gets a dunking - dry out completely, then iron petals avoiding button.

My nana Hannah and her generation, who survived the war-years, making do and mending, breathing new life into what they had to hand, could teach us a thing or two about austerity. I inherited her thrifty ways and her button collection. So with a personal denim mountain that would rival a Texan cowboy’s and a whole bunch of materials I kept because I just love their colours and patterns, I created ‘Hannah’s Buttons’.
