The words and illustrations in this charming blue one of a kind piece are extracts taken from a gigantic early 1950's book titled:

'The World We Live In'

"The World We Live In spanned a diverse range of topics concerning planet Earth and universe, and employed the talents of countless artists and photographers."

This piece uses extracts from a section of the book titled "The Winds Of Earth" I'm in love with the 50's blue (if there is such a thing as 50's blue) illustrations and notations.

As the text is taken from a 60+ year old book the butterflies have a beautiful aged quality to the paper. The butterfly content is painstakingly chosen, hand cut, hand sewn and attached.

The piece will come to you in a black wood shadow box measuring 33cm x 24cm (outer dimensions of the frame) which can be either freestanding or hung.

The butterfly art really works for me, from a distance it's one pretty thing, then close up, it's a deeper level of personal detail. I can't get enough of symmetry and detail in meaning.
