A design in my daughter's sketchbook was the starting point for this embroidery.

Composed of brightly coloured felt circles, overlapping each other, edged in blanket stitch and embellished with hand embroidery - bright and modern - it looked lovely hanging to be photographed in our conservatory!
Adapted from a page in my daughter's sketch book - I have loved stitching this piece! The circles were grouped onto a backing felt, and then the 'obscured portions of neighbouring circles were carefully trimmed away to leave only one layer of coloured felt throughout. A variety of simple embroidery stitches have been used to add texture and further coloured elements to the design - finishing with the overlaying circle outlines in chain stitch.
A length of dowel, inserted into a sleeve, with attached cord, provides a means of hanging.
