My aim as a designer/maker is to use locally sourced materials that have no other -or seem to have no other use. The pine wood off - cuts I use to produce my work are sourced from local building sites and can be found in all kinds of odd lengths and shapes. Scorching and brushing the pine reveals a wonderfully textured surface. I then rub the piece down with sand paper to bring out the grain and reveal areas of bare pine that contrasts beautifully with the painted surface.
