I am incredibly inspired by the sea, and I am lucky enough to live very close to a lovely beach. I spend a lot of time walking and collecting shells and stones to use in my work. I wanted to make something that would communicate my love of the sea, to bring the seaside, inside!
I put together transparent textured glass, shells and stones with different levels of translucence because I love the contrasts in colour and texture.

Full description

It's a bit stormy in this little corner of the sea. The waves are tumbling the shells and stones but the jaunty red and yellow sailing boat is valiantly riding the surf!

This tealight holder is beautiful with daylight shining through the ultramarine wave forms, but it comes alive with flickering candle light. The waves are studded with glass nuggets, shells, blue lace agate and sea glass. It is quite small but sturdy at 110mm (w) x 90mm (h) x 110mm (d) with a mirrored base to reflect the light. It is made using the traditional copper foil technique.

Designed by Naomi Frances in Worthing, west sussex
