Full description
Brilliant red poppies embroidered against a felted cornfield form the design for this textile brooch. This is a popular theme which I have repeated several times, however, each brooch is a unique composition
Naturally died silk and mohair fibres are combined with merino wool, in the felt which forms the background to this brooch. Distant poppies are represented by small French knots in embroidery thread.The poppies in the foreground are embroidered in organza ribbon. The brooch is stiffened with plastic cut from a recycled bottle. A row of couching over a yarn of mixed cream and greens, frames the design.
The back of the brooch is neatened with felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.

Height - 4.5 cm approx.
