Who doesn't like cupcakes? I love baking them, eating them - and they're so pretty to look at. With a wealth of pretty fabrics to choose from, it was only a matter of time before I designed a make to incorporate these little lovelies.

Full description
A scrummy pillow pattern consisting of paper-pieced (foundation) cupcake blocks. The border is embroidered with the childhood rhyme - "Sugar and spice and all things nice, that's what little girls are made of".
The cherries on top of the cakes are little yo-yo's. The pillow is backed in two of the fabrics, with a simple panel embroidered with "Sugar and Spice". With an envelope opening and simple quilting, the edge of the pillow is bound in the same fabric as the yo-yo's adding a pop of colour to the otherwise pastel theme.
The finished pillow measures 19" square, making it large, comfy and cosy. The perfect addition to adorn a bed. (pillows this size are readily available online at a very reasonable price).
The pattern contains paper-piecing templates, full-size lettering to trace, "icing" patterns to embroider, together with full instructions.
The paper-pieced blocks are easily put together either by hand or machine sewing, making it a lovely portable project.
Suitable for all skill levels of sewing. As long as you can sew a straight line, you can make this!
Sewing techniques in this pattern - Paper Piecing (Foundation) patchwork, Simple embroidery, simple quilting, yo-yo's, binding with mitred corrners.
