Kindles and iPads are making the printed book become obsolete, rather than letting the written word die out I up cycle vintage copies of well loved books to make beautiful jewellery.

This is a bangle hand made by me featuring a hand made paper flower. The flower is made from a vintage copy of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, this particular copy was published in 1976.

The wonderful thing about making jewellery from books is that you can pick out words from the story.

All beads are glazed to make them waterproof but please remember they are made from paper and will be unlikely to survive being submerged - so take your bracelet off before washing up.

This is a silver coloured metal bangle with paper flower, some of the petals are distressed to add texture. the central bead is red glass and it also features a red ribbon.

the diameter of the bangle is approx. 7cm

This was one of those accidents that turns out better than it could ever have been planned, I had cut out loads of petals to make this but they got stuck together. When I peeled them off I was left with a lovely texture which really makes this piece interesting.
