Carpenter’s plane and Slate from Devon UK.
A slice of slate from my garden and a carpenter’s plane, possibly 100 years old, make an unlikely pair but I really like them united to make this free standing clock. The plane is I think made from beech wood and shows marks and dents from its former life. I have polished it to bring out its colour and it “sits” nice and firmly. The slate is waxed too to heighten the subtle shades of greys and blues inherent in its make-up. It is firmly screwed to the plane and a new clock movement added. This clock would look good displayed in any room and would make an excellent gift for anyone who appreciates the more unusual present.
