I loved the shell as a surface to paint and was inspired to paint a butterfly as I liked wanted to captured the image of a buttefly alighting on the shell perhaps only to quickly flit away in a moment!

A pretty blue butterfly resting on clean smooth shell.
I picked up the little shell at my local beach; fascninated by the worn down ridges and how the underneath of the shell is almost pearlised. I painted this delicate butterfly blue using acrylic paints, adding tiny dots of white for defination.
The shell is quite a strong one but I will ensure that it is carefully wrapped prior to sending. This would make a sweet Valentine gift, tiny wedding wish or unusual display item.
