Full description

This dramatic, stoneware bottle vase would look stunning in any contemporary interior. Hand-thrown on the wheel, the piece was then altered by gently pushing the clay to form shallow indentations. Black slip was poured over the form to create the bold decoration against the bare clay. A transparent ash glaze was applied inside and out to create an interesting, varied surface with an authentic Japanese look and feel.

The bottle vase was fired to a blistering 1270 degrees centigrade, a temperature which ensures its durability and water-tightness.

The piece measures approx 7 inches tall and approx. 4.5 inches diameter. Mark Smalley's personal seal has been applied to the underside.

I have tried to photograph as accurately as possible, but please bear in mind that colours may vary slightly under different lighting conditions.

Postage packing for this item costs £4.50 for first class recorded delivery.

Designed by Mark Smalley in Cheshire, england
