Item details

A small smooth sleeping hare, clutching its paws in a dream like sleep. Carved from a section of sycamore branch which makes a reassuringly tactile representation of a young Hare (Jack Rabbit) in its warm dry sanctuary.

Crafted using local fallen wood. Individually produced in North Yorkshire by me, I make each and every carving unique as I work with the shape of the wood, and the natural flaws in the wood alter the colour and grain making each piece different.

A Palm carving is shaped to fit in the palm,and small enough to place under a pillow, discreet enough to be carried in a pocket or purse. Ideal for times of stress, bringing comfort and relaxation with the warmth of the wood.

The animal shape can assist in the act of ‘mindfulness’ and refocus as your fingers and eyes caress the contours of the carving.

Size: 4cm x 4cm x 2.3cm - Sycamore finished with local Beeswax

I was inspired to create the carving after reading the book 'The Hare with Amber Eyes' by British ceramicist Edmund de Waal.
