I love playing around with glass 'frit' which are tiny pieces of glass that look a bit like sand. I enjoy seeing what the 800 degree heat of the kiln will create. I think that fused glass really suits watery blue colours, and with the bubble effect of this lacy bowl, it looks a bit like a frozen pool of bubbling water!

Full description

These lacy bowls start life as hundreds of tiny grains of glass which I spread on the glass kiln shelf and then heat them to a temperature of around 800 degrees. The tiny pieces of glass 'frit' then melt together randomly to form a delicate lace-like pattern, which looks a bit like honeycomb.

I then heat the glass again to slump it in a bowl mould. The whole process takes two days for the glass to be heated and gradually cooled twice.

Your turquoise lace bowl will not look identical to the one pictured as the glass melts to create random patterns, but it will be just as beautiful. It will measure approximately 18cm in diameter. Although this bowl looks sculptural, it can still be used practically, and I use mine at home to hold cotton buds and cotton wool balls.

I will use plenty of bubble wrap when posting this item to ensure that it arrives safely with you.

I also have an opal blue bowl and an opal white bowl available, and I can make other colour bowls, such as green and lilac to order.
