As a 21st century freelancer who works full time from home, I find it very difficult to relax; there is always something to be done. For me, the perfect way to escape the grind is to watch my partner and his team play a game of cricket; it removes me from that environment and releases me from all duties. I pack a bag with things to do, and settle down for an afternoon's total relaxation, safe in the knowledge that I don't have to do a thing except enjoy myself and watch a bit of cricket. The atmosphere is friendly and Cotswold village cricket grounds are often the prettiest of places, set in gorgeous, undulating countryside with mature trees fringing them.

This for me is the ultimate in freedom - away from the studio, away from the computer and definitely away from housework! And although I don't particpate in the game, I feel part of a very long tradition of British leisure sports.

W.G Goose (named after the legendary English cricketer W.G.Grace) sums up for me the summery feeling of a village cricket match. He is wearing the colours of our team, Eynsham Cricket Club.

He is entirely dry felted and took four solid days to create. He is 32.5 cm x 14.5 cm. Underneath his grassy tummock is a Red Flannel Elephant Designs ribbon, and he comes with a dated and signed tag.
