Howies competition entry:

“Life is complicated. Sport is simple.” This phrase divides two sets of line drawings, which focus on shape to suggest the contrast between life and sport.

The complex, irregular shapes of items in the top row represent the tiresome day-to-day dealings with chores, cleaning, money, deadlines, routine, communication.

The simplicity of sport, and the freedom and escapism that can be achieved through it is shown through the simple shapes of the sporting objects in the bottom row.
