Inspired by winter, pair of socks size 5/6, knitted the way our great-grandmother did; by hand on four kneedles, in front of the fire. I just love this wool; the way it moves through random streaks of grey, like a winter sky. I added stripes of yellow and crimson to evoke impressions of a winter sunset.
The socks come with laundering instructions; remnants of the wool I used for darning in many years to come and a winter verse by Robert Burns.
For best results, wear on a cold winter's day, in front of a roaring fire, with a mug of hot chocolate laced with brandy (optional).
