One of my 'sale' items as mentioned on my blog!
This quilt I made in the japanese style known as sashiko. The central motif is a wonderful white stallion proud and very much alive! The border is in a sampler style where each individual square is a seperate pattern and, as is so typical of this style of quilting, each pattern has its own meaning. At the base are stitched characters which depict the words 'peaceful friend' , the whole is then hand quilted together with black thread. The sashiko stitching is done in thick white sashiko thread onto black cotton, the backing is a plain creamy white fairtrade cotton.
The quilt measures 118 x 154 cm a useful size to sit atop a single bed or to have as a special throw - even a wall hanging if you have a space big enough!
It is possible to cool handwash this item, dry naturally but ironing is not recommended.
