This beautiful handmade Rag Quilt measures 27.5" x 20" (70x50cm) and was created after looking at all the beautiful rag quilts which seem popular in the USA. This item would be ideal for many uses including a snuggle comforter for a baby/toddler, a play mat for a small baby or even as a bath mat to brighten up any bathroom.
It is made using squares of fabric from a Moda Charm Pack (Rose Parade) with a plain cream backing - and the odd patterned square left over - and is filled with a cotton batting, quilted in a simple cross to give it definition and stitched round the perimeter to hold it all together.
It has been prewashed on a cold cycle and tumble dried on low for a short while to begin the "ragging" process and the great thing about this quilt is that it will get better and better as it is washed as the ragging makes it softer.
I have to confess that I am now hooked on this method of quilt making as the result is so pretty, so watch out for other size quilts, coming soon. Alternatively if you have a special colour scheme and size in mind, please mail me and I will be happy to quote and make as a commission.
Designs may vary according to the fabric and as fellow folksy sellers will know, this is handmade with love and the price reflects the time spent making it as well as materials. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I did making it.
