Small mug with shino glaze
Description
A delicately thrown mug with a lustrous, shino glaze. Thrown and finished by hand, this mug was fired to over 1200 degrees centigrade in a saggar with charcoal. The iron oxide in the decoration has created a wonderful, lustre-like effect which sometimes looks golden when the light strikes it at a certain angle.
As with traditional Japanese pottery, I have left finger marks to the base, to show the action of dipping the pot in the glaze. My personal mark is also impressed to the underside.
The mug is very light, ideal for a quick, strong cup of coffee in the morning! It measures 8 cms tall and 7 cms wide at the mouth.
I have tried to photograph the piece as accurately as possible, but please bear in mind that colours may vary slightly when viewed in different lighting conditions.
Postage and packing will cost £2.70 for delivery by second class recorded post.
